What I never knew was that Scott wasn't completely happy with that version either, claiming that he was rushed and unable to give it the attention it deserved. Anyway, the For Real Director's Cut will be released in theaters in 2007, the 25th anniversary of the film. A special edition DVD will follow with all the versions of the movie and other bonus material.
LucasFilm, you need to be taking notes.

Blade Runner on the big screen .. great, great news .. thanks for posting
That is awesome news!
Kinski says ...
I somehow doubt it will have all the versions available on it. Video Watchdog did an article in about the film in 2001 or so ... detailing the 7 extant versions at that time. I can only presume this one will be #8 ... although there could have been more in between.
And I will say it again. The original, with the voice over and all, is still the best version. Period.
Gah! Eight? Holy Moly. This is only gonna be three.
I'm torn between the two versions that I've seen, so I'm hoping that this one will be SO GOOD that it'll defintively knock the other two down and let me make up my mind once and for all.
(Do you still have that article from Video Watchdog, by the way? I'd love to read it.)
Kinski pouts..
..that I have it, but it is in storage. I moved everything in the garage into storage just before Christmas. Someday. Are you making a list of everything I need to get out of storage for you??
